Alan Gunsul
Class of 1944
I played on Foster's first Championship Football Team in 1942 (three year letterman) and my Junior year the only person who turned out for track (Lettered). I was drafted, served in the Balkans, Awarded a Bronze Medal for Heroism (in camera), became a S/Sgt by age 19. Came home to Pre-Med and Medical School ( SU + UW). Graduated from Med School 55, married with four children and responsible for my young brother and sister (Parents dead). Practiced 43 years in Burien. Delivered 2200 babies. Was Highline High School Team Physician for 28 years,, attending all games, home and away, missing only 15 games. Lost my wife of 58 years and two years later married Katherine Shults, a Foster Graduate of 1946. Lived in same house in Burien for 54 years, which has been remodeled twice, the Architect being Brooks Gunsul, also a Forster Grad '46.
