Navy, 20+ Years

Joined the US Navy in June 1973, attended Boot Camp at Great Lakes IL assigned to the Aircraft Carrier USS Independence (CVA-62), deployed during Arab/Israel War in Oct 1973 in MED Sea.
Attended Radioman "A" School and Teletype "C" School. Reenlisted in Aug 1977, served at Fleet Weather Center Norfolk VA. Transferred to Wooden Minesweeper USS Adroit (MSO-509) Homeported in Portsmouth NH as Leading Radioman. Transferred to Fleet Mine Warfare Training Center in 1981 as RM1 to attend Instructor School and Teach International Morse Code. Transferred to Destroyer USS Mahan (DDG-42) in June of 1985, one of three ships to sit on the "Line of Death" in 1986. Advanced to Chief Petty Officer. Attended Special Communications School in Northwest VA in 1989 and assigned to SPECOMMDIVf Rota Spain. Transferred to Destroyer USS Nicholson in Charleston SC in Dec 1992, deployed to Persian Gulf 93-94, then to Haiti early 1994, Retired after 21 years of service and returned to PA, now living in Canonsburg.
