Favorite School Memory	Fond memories.. More after school going hunting with my friends Byron Stout, Jeff Dinkel and Gene Kazor. Those days you could have a shotgun in the car on campus without the swat team arriving. In considering this question I began to reflect that many of my memories in retrospect were ones of sweeping dynamic change. In 10th grade for 13 days in Oct. 1962 we watched and waited as troops were massed because of missles 90 miles away. On Friday Nov. 22 1963 in Mrs Goodyear's history class when we all lost much of our innocence because of events in Dallas TX at 12:30 PM CST. On Sunday afternoon many of us saw that Lee Harvey Oswald would never go to trial. During my 3 years in high school I would never sit next to a black student because there were none.Fortunately that changed. By the time I graduated many of us were wondering where we would be in the next year or two. In college or the jungles of Viet Nam. I recall taking a course required of every student..Americanism vs Communism. Too many lives where lost because we feared the "red menace". On the lighter side discipline changed a lot. My big crime was getting caught with my shirttail out and getting a choice of 3 licks or a detention. Having heard horror stories about the paddle I wisely opted for the detention. Other fond memories involved trying to impress girls, acting foolish at football games and perhaps buying beer with a fake ID. About Me	In HS my parents William and Betty Hester owned a record store called mostly Music. I worked there part time after graduating and attending Edison Jr college. My dad hire a sweet young thing named Barbara Musso, Class of 1969. I had just gotten engaged but fell head over heels in love with Barbara. She was a keeper. I married her on June 6, 1969, the 25th anniversary of D-Day and we just had our 41st wedding anniversary. Went to USF in Tampa and cmae away with a Masters in 1970. Moved to Connecticut and worked at a psych hospital until we moved to Toledo Ohio so I could work on my PhD Officially passed my final oral exam and became Dr Hester on a carefully picked day..7/7/77 ! I figured I would try for all the luck I could muster. Moved to Dallas TX and became the director of a specialized forensic unit that dealt with child abuse cases. Started doing capital murder cases, interesting work but ax murderers aren't fun people. I moved into medical psychology so I have a combined practice largely doing medical and forensic neuropsychology. Got sick of the big city so Barb and I moved about 45 miles east where we have 6 acres and a pond with ducks and where deer come to drink. It is well worth the drive. Last time I was in Ft Myers was in the late 90s when my parents died. Wow things really changed. I had not been back in 30 years. When I left the city pretty well stopped at Edison Mall and you could walk for miles on Bonita Beach or Boca Grande. I liked the way it was. But at least you have beaches ...(read more)
