About Virginia 'Ginny' Belson Health and phys ed teacher at Fort Lee High School; loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend Virginia "Ginny" Illuzzi Belson, 93, formerly of Dalton, Pa., and Fort Lee, N.J., died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at Clarks Summit Senior Living, Clarks Summit, Pa. Relatives and friends may visit the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, on Thursday, Feb. 16, from 3 to 7 p.m. A blessing service will be held on Friday, Feb. 17, at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, with services by Deacon Raymon Pieretti. Interment will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly, Pa. Her husband, William Belson, predeceased her in 1973. Virginia, the daughter of the late Frank Illuzzi I and Rose Illuzzi DiPietrontonio, was born in Waverly and moved to Dalton in 1928. Virginia graduated from Dalton High School class of 1941. She received her bachelor's degree from East Stroudsburg State College in 1945, and received her master's in education administration from Saint Peter's University in 1981. She taught health and physical education for 20 years at Reading Central Catholic School in Reading, Pa., and for 30 years at Fort Lee High School, Fort Lee, N.J. Virginia was inducted into both schools' Hall of Fame. In addition, she was acknowledged with many awards for her years of dedicated teaching, coaching, and service to students who loved her dearly. Virginia retired to her hometown of Dalton to be close to her beloved family and friends. She was active in the Dalton Rotary and supported many community charities. She was a loving and compassionate wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Virginia took solace in her faith in God and her church. Surviving are three sisters, Raffeala Squier (Bound Brook, N.J.); Rose Marie Laster (Dalton); Antoinette Mennig and her husband, John (Clarks Summit), and her brother, Frank Illuzzi II and his wife, Donna (Tunkhannock, Pa.), and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her brothers, Guy Illuzzi and Michael Illuzzi, Felix, Joseph, Lawrence and Michael DiPietrontonio and four sisters, Archangela Mastropasqua, Frances Schupper, Gloria Doggett, and Nancy Dorsey.
