Raymond Bernard Colles

U.S. Veteran Mr. Raymond Bernard Colles, age 69 of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, at his residence.
Mr. Colles was born May 5, 1949, in Luxembourg, to the late Nicholas and Anna Colles. He retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years. While in the Army, he was with the 129th Assault Helicopter Company military unit. Mr. Colles was a Master Aviator and flew helicopters in Vietnam. He was also a retired computer consultant and a member of the Nebo United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Colles was also preceded in death by his nephew, Cory Ward, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Tivie Estes.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Terry McAdams officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Glasgow, Jim Hammett, Drew Estes, James McGee, Danny Christian, and Brandon Stephens.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Colles of Vernon, AL; one daughter, Allison McDaniel of Vernon, AL; one granddaughter, Berkley McDaniel of Vernon, AL; one brother, Bill Ward; one brother-in-law, Doug (Sheila) Estes of Columbus, MS; one niece, Heather (James) McGee of Columbus, MS; one nephew, Drew Estes, of Buckhead, GA; and a great-niece and nephew, Marek and Estes McGee.

Ronnie's life was taken by the hand of ignorance while he was protecting his family. He was shot at his home in front of his nephews and died in his fathers arms. He will forever be loved and missed.

Steve died from complication following surgery in November. He was "Mr. Sioux Falls" and left a living legacy. He will be missed by many. RIP.

Thomas A McAdams

Tom was killed while in combat in Vietnam with the Black Horse Regiment and was under the command of Col. George Patton, III. He was awarded two bronze stars and a silver star and is buried in Arlington Cemetery. He was married to Anita Foster (FKHS '61) and was the father of two daughters. The football field at Ft. Knox Hi is named in his honor.

Vernon passed away from heart failure while playing Santa's elf in the mall. Vernon was doing what he loved the most which was making children happy and smile. Vernon was an amazing son, brother, uncle, husband, father and grandfather. You will forever be missed Bubba!!
