| About | Cumberland (Maryland) News, June 14, 1969 Mercer, Pa. (UPI) – Andrew J. Cachet, 19, of Harrisburg, Pa., and Benn Bakewell, of Frankfort, Ky., were killed Friday when their car collided head-on with a tractor – trailer on Route 19 five miles north of here. State police said the car, driven by Cachet, crossed the medial divider and hit a truck operated by Gerald P. Woods, 27, Edinboro, Pa. Woods suffered head cuts but was not hospitalized. |

Although I didn’t know him that well…. We both lived on same street, same quarters building. We lived side by side. Our bedrooms were side by side. Sometimes in the evening we’d hang out the window, shooting the breeze, visiting. Later, both our families built a house in Valley Station, one street apart. We’d visit occasionally. I hated to hear about his accident.
