Mr. Colles was born May 5, 1949, in Luxembourg, to the late Nicholas and Anna Colles. He retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years. While in the Army, he was with the 129th Assault Helicopter Company military unit. Mr. Colles was a Master Aviator and flew helicopters in Vietnam. He was also a retired computer consultant and a member of the Nebo United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Colles was also preceded in death by his nephew, Cory Ward, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Tivie Estes. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Terry McAdams officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon 1:00-2:00 prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Phillip Glasgow, Jim Hammett, Drew Estes, James McGee, Danny Christian, and Brandon Stephens. Survivors include his wife, Jan Colles of Vernon, AL; one daughter, Allison McDaniel of Vernon, AL; one granddaughter, Berkley McDaniel of Vernon, AL; one brother, Bill Ward; one brother-in-law, Doug (Sheila) Estes of Columbus, MS; one niece, Heather (James) McGee of Columbus, MS; one nephew, Drew Estes, of Buckhead, GA; and a great-niece and nephew, Marek and Estes McGee.
