Joe Campbell

Joe Campbell

Class of 1972

In my chosen profession I often hear people speal about graduating in the top 10% of their schools graduating class (Of course for most of them a huge class would be 400 grads). I than interject that I am sure I was in the bottom tenth and possibly dead last. It took me a little longer than many to get over those teacher strikes of 1967 and 1968. Well, I was blessed with a great teacher. His asigned content area was English but he taugh life using literature. He made me realize the talent I was hiding inside. I have often compared Rich Anderson to Jamie Escalante. Forty years, I want to thank him. I was on course to be a butcher shop keeper. Through literature, discussions and writing I came to understand that dreams do become reality and the Man of La Macha lives inside all of us. Today I am teaching the high school science and physical education curriculumm at Plum Creek Academy. Our district is the top performing district in Colorado. Since say good bye to FHHS back in June of 1972 I have traveled and decided to learn something new every day. In 1973 I arrived in Colorado on vaccation. When September 0f 1974 came around I found myself enrolled at EL Paso County Commity College. In 1977 I moved to Greeley, Colorado.(Horce Greeley said go west younjg man). While living in this college/ cowtown I earned my BA in Physical Education. I was elected to the position of Viice President of tyhe student body from 1979 - 1981. I gradauted in December of 1980. I earned my MA in special education also from The University of Northern Colorado! In review i made the wise cjoice for me and I an honestly I have no regrets!
