I enlisted in the U.S.Navy on March 17, 1969 and was Honorably Discharged on March 16, 1973. My boot camp training was in San Diego. I attended Class A school to become a Shipfitter/Welder. After completing school I served 2 years aboard the USS Alamogordo (ARDM-2) which was a floating dry dock home ported in Charleston South Carolina.During that time I was assigned to Class C Welding school where I became a certified welder. I was transferred to the USS Yellowstone (AD-27) which was a Destroyer Tender, also home ported in SC. My rank was HT2(E5) which is described as Hull Technician 2nd Class.

Stationed on the US Coast Guard Cutter Sherman. WHEC-720 out of Alameda, CA for two years making Alaskan fisheries patrols up in the Bearing Sea. Last 2 years at Group Humboldt Bay in McKinnleyville, CA attach to the Mobile Maintenance & Repair team.
Decided to make the mistake & join the AirForce Reserves in 2000. Trained as an A-10 Crew Chief. Was assigned at Beale AFB to the ABDR Group. That is Aircraft Battle Damage & Repair squadron. Squadron got decomishioned so for my last 2 years I was assigned to the 940TH Air Refueling Squadron at Beale working in the ISO Dock on KC-135's. Decided to get out after enlistment in 2006.

I served as a combat medic. I joined the Army Reserves on April 19, 1991. I decided to go active duty on March 30,1993. This is where I met my husband that I have been married to for the past 18 years. He is still currently serving.

Retired from the Navy in 2006 after 31 years of Service (Early Graduate) Retired as a CWO5, one of the original 17 ever promoted by the Navy in 2003. Married to the Former Karen Summitt, A graduate of Grant High School. They have five children Sean, Mathew, Joshua, Colleen and Amanda and six Grand children.
