Events Scott Paul Behnke, 63, of Eden, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. Family was at his side as he peacefully completed his journey on earth.
Scott was born on November 6, 1955, in Fond du Lac, the son of Paul S. and Beverley Hill Behnke. He graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac in 1973 and earned his Associate Degree in Applied Science of Insurance from North Central Technical College in Wausau in 1979. After graduating, he worked alongside his father at Paul Behnke Insurance Agencies, Inc., eventually owning the business with his brother Stacy Behnke. Scott retired from Behnke Insurance in 2018.
On February 3, 1996 he married Mari Marks at the Union Congregational Church in Waupun. Scott and Mari enjoyed many adventures together including creating a beautiful homestead.
Scott was a member of the River Valley Kart Club, Lighthouse Fishing Club, and Manitowoc Kennel Club. He was also active in Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and served as a past chairman for the Northshore Ducks Committee. Scott loved hunting, karting, fishing and the outdoors, disappearing into the woods for weeks at a time during buck season.
He is survived by children: Taryn Behnke of Fond du Lac, Matthew (Sarah) Behnke and their children Miles and Paul of West Allis; a sister: Susan (Bob) Brockman of Verona; brother, Stacy Behnke of Fond du Lac; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dick and Marlene Malter of Waupun; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mick and Julie Marks of Beaver Dam; several special nieces and nephews, Abby, Eric, Andrew, Samantha, Kevin and Kelly; a large and extended family; and his beloved dog, Tag.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Beverley Behnke, wife, Mari Behnke, and sister-in-law, Angie Behnke.
VISITATION: Friends may call on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 9:30-1:30 p.m. at Edgewood Community Church, 609 Thomas St., Fond du Lac.
FUNERAL: A celebration of Scott's life will be held on Tuesday, December 18 at 1:30 p.m.at Edgewood Community Church, 609 Thomas St., Fond du Lac, with Pastor Jeremy Thompson officiating. Internment will follow the service at Rienzi Cemetery.
Scott was an avid Packer and NASCAR fan. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Scott worked hard to provide for his family and build a life in Fond du Lac. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff and physicians at Agnesian Cancer Center and Hospice Home of Hope for their compassionate care throughout Scott's illness. A very special thank you to the many friends who were constantly at Scott's side throughout this journey. Done Deal.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Scott's name.
