About (no additional information)
Events Robert J. “Bob” Carey, Jr., 67, of Fond du Lac, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022. He was born in Fond du Lac on November 9, 1954, to Robert “Bob” and Betty (Glissendorf) Carey, Sr., the second of five children. Growing up, Bob enjoyed playing baseball and basketball and listening to Red Sox games on the radio. A natural when it came to building and woodworking, Bob began his career with Sterling Homes and then later worked for Wickes Lumber. In the 1980s, he became a father and entrepreneur. He was the best dad to his three daughters. Bob also started his own successful picture framing business, “Carey Oaks” which he owned and operated for 20+ years. During that time, he was a doting father to his three girls. Bob was known for the home cooked meals he made for them and any of their friends who he welcomed with open arms as well. He was awarded a plaque for “Best Dance Dad” as he never missed a dance competition and often drove up to half the team to their event. Bob passed down a legacy of kindness as he was always willing to help anyone in need. For several years he enjoyed volunteering at Broken Bread, a ministry of St. Paul’s Cathedral. Bob will be remembered for his faith and dry sense of humor which helped throughout many years of illness. He would share the message of Jesus’ love with those who connected with him. While there are many wonderful things we can say about him, Bob would want to give all glory to Jesus during this time. “So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross Till my trophies at last I lay down. I will cling to the old rugged cross And exchange it some day for a crown.” Survivors include his three daughters, Mandy (Chris) Vandeberg of Marshall, Wis., and Jamie Carey and Kim (Cyle) Guell, both of Fond du Lac; eight grandchildren; three siblings, Margaret (Midge) Reinke, Mike Carey, and John Carey; two stepsisters, Linda Lessner and Carolyn Bingham; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jim Carey. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Friday, August 5, 2022, at Lighthouse Christian Church, 401 S. National Ave., in Fond du Lac. A memorial service will follow, beginning at 3:00 PM. Cremation has taken place. A private burial will be held in Rienzi Cemetery at a later date. Services are in the care of Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 North Park Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Additional information and guestbook can be found at ueckerwitt.com
