| About Me | I joined the Navy in 91. What a good choice for me. As some of you may remember, I wasn't actually a model student. I recieived some guidance and discipline and travelled all over the world. Some places I visited include the Philippines, Japan, Guam, Bahrain (this is where I was on the 10th year reunion), Qatar, Oman, Argentina, Hawaii, (for 5 years, that was rough!) Nevada, and finally Maryland. Travelling to these places made me realize how lucky and thankful I was to be raised in a small American town. My job in the navy was Aviation Ordnanceman. What that means basically is that I loaded weapons on Navy Aircraft. Pretty interesting job. Not much of a trade in the civilan world, though. In Maryland, My trade changed dramatically. I started working in the special projects shop for the Naval Research Laboratory out of D.C. . What I did there had nothing to do with weapons. We installed cutting edge prototype technology in an airplane to perform science and development experiments for the Navy. A really cool job compared to the other one I had. I left the Navy in 2001 to come home for a while. I worked for the National Center for Atmospheric Research Center in Boulder for awhile. Then I went back to school to work on a degree in computer networking. I ran into some of our alumni at PCC in Canon City while going there for about a year and a half. My Boss from the Lab called me out of the blue one day and asked if I wanted to come back to Maryland and do some projects. I said yes and have been here since 2004. I have worked with folks from NASA, NOAA, USGS, and various other groups and Universities developing technology for all kinds of things. I participated in an expedition to Ushuaia, Argentina, the southernmost city in the world and capitol of Antarctica with NASA and NOAA to do a study on the Antarctic Sea Ice Melt. I am currently in Afghanistan supporting the Lab in conducting a Geological Survey of the entire country in order to try and find better resources for the Afghanis to create a better economy and become a player in the world economy.
