About	Donnie Hickman Ex-USC Lineman Donnie Hickman Dies July 02, 2015 \| Football Share: July 2, 2015 Donnie Hickman, a 2-year starting offensive guard at USC who was a member of the Trojans' 1974 national championship team, died on Saturday (June 27) of cancer in Glendale, Ariz. He was 60. A funeral will be held on July 8 at 11 a.m. at Christ Church of Flagstaff, 3475 E. Soliere Ave., Flagstaff, Ariz. 86004. Hickman lettered 3 years (1974-76) at USC, starting his final 2 seasons. As a senior in 1976, he made the All-Pac-8 first team and was USC's Offensive Player of the Year as the Trojans went 11-1, won the Rose Bowl and finished with a No. 2 national ranking. His 1974 USC squad was 10-1-1 and won the Rose Bowl en route to the national title. USC won the Liberty Bowl in 1975. He was a fifth round pick of the Los Angeles Rams in the 1977 NFL Draft and spent 1978 playing for the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions. He then spent 4 seasons (1980-83) with the B.C. Lions of the CFL and 2 seasons in the USFL with the Pittsburgh Maulers (1984) and Los Angeles Express (1985). After his playing career, Hickman was a youth counselor and also a football coach for Glendale and Mesa Community Colleges in Arizona. He starred in football, basketball and track at Flagstaff High and was inducted into the Flagstaff Sports Hall of Fame in 2014. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bridget, and his son, Justin, who played defensive end at UCLA and then with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts, the Los Angeles Avengers of the Arena Football League and now with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL.
