| About Me | If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain; If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin Into his nest again, I shall not live in vain. -- Emily Dickinson I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, raised in Akron, Ohio, and am now living back in Louisville, Kentucky where I reside with my two sons, one dog, and two cats. My time always seems to be filled, whether it is with volunteering at Christian's school - I'm on the PTO Board and am Head Room Mom – or kicking back to watch a movie or read, or occasionally I'll get out my stuff to scrapbook or stamp. I love to dance - once I hit the floor, you will not get me off! I love fashion, and tend to pick up the InStyle magazine when at the bookstore. You'll see me pouring over the latest fashions, as well as the newest makeup trends. I'm a coffee and chocolate fanatic. Coffee is my breakfast and if you know me well, you know not to get in the way between me and the coffee pot first thing in the morning. My youngest quickly learned it's coffee first, his bottle second. I can not live without the chocolate either. When I was pregnant with Christian I lived on a diet of Milk Duds and McDonald’s cokes. (Real healthy, I know). My family, my faith, and Guatemala are big priorities in my life. I love spending time with my boys, and one of the best things is to make new memories with those that I care about! I am a real sentimental person, and it is great to think back on all the good times and laugh. After a mission trip to Gualan, Zacapa, Guatemala the summer of '09 I am passionate about work with the country. It is a true privilage to be able to do what I do, and to be surrounded with so many wonderful people while doing it. My life was permanently changed those two and a half weeks in June, and I will forever hold a special spot in my heart for the villages I visited, the people I interacted with, and the children I hugged and held. My older son joined me for the trip the summer of '10; I was so excited to share with him the country I fell in love with! My youngest already grabs at our Guatemalan arm bands; he's already had his first tetanus shot so is ready to travel! Don't be surprised if we end up moving to Guatemala -- if for no other reason than their excellent guacamole! I have a very outgoing personality. You will never see me miss an opportunity to get out there and have fun. I love to talk, and I really don't see the need to ever meet a stranger. My mind tends to veer towards the philosophical side; I love to sit there and think or write out my thoughts. The following quote fits me to a tee: People put up walls not to keep people out but to see who cares enough to break them down. I do tend to put up walls around myself; if you care enough about me you'll know how to break them down to really get to know who I am, what ...(read more) |
