About Me | Wellll....After High School I went to Greer Tech where because of the training my Dad gave me in bodywork, I started teaching there, that lasted for 4 years. I then went to work for a shop in River Grove and worked there for 4 more years. During that time I hooked up with a car club from Elmhurst called the Street Shakers. In Feb. 1981 we all were hit with the worst wind chills -80 below in Chicago history at the time. My parents moved down to S.W. Missouri (8 miles West of Branson) in 1979 and I called my mom to see what the weather was. She informed me it was 40. I asked "below?" and I was informed that no it was above. Took all of 10 seconds for me to realize that, that was a 120 degree difference. It took me 1 week to sell all my earthly possessions and I moved down to S.W. MO. by my parents. I work for a boat repair shop doing all the steel and fiberglass repair as well as ALL the painting for the next 5 years. In 86 me and a friend (at the prodding of my what was to soon to be my X-girlfriend) moved to Kansas City and I got a job at a security company installing and designing alarm systems. In Aug. of 88 I responded to an alarm call that was giving us troubles. It was in a drop off yard for semi trailers. I called our dispatch and told them I was going into the lot and to immediately call the Police when they got that report. I checked all the trailers and all were still secured. The last trailer was the storage trailer, I climbed onto the back, lifted the rear gate and this white dude came blasting out. I jumped after him but my right foot hooked on the back lip and I completely tore EVERYTHING, only thing holding the leg together was the skin. After a 12 hour surgery and 7 months of rehab my soon to be wife and I moved back down to the S.W. area. It was there I learned my second passion, cooking. I worked on and off for the next 11 years in a couple of different restaurants. In 01 I got the call of the wild to go back to working on boats. In March 2005 I was headhunted by this shop in Nixa Mo., for almost $7.00 an hour more than I was making. In Oct. 2005 I was coming off the back of a pontoon boat in the shop and I slipped off the top rung and onto my back on a concrete floor. So for the next year I had 1 back surgery (which was the wrong surgery for the damage I had) and 3 months of rehab. After the doctor literally patted me on the head and told me like a TV Evangelist that I was healed, I went back to work in the restaurant field again. The pain never went away, in fact it got worse and in Aug. of 2008 I couldn't take the pain anymore and applied for disability. I got it first time around because I kept EVERYTHING documented. So since ...(read more) |
