Marine Corps, 20+ Years

I am retiring from the military 31 March 2008 with over 20 active duty years. My journey began with NROTC at Ohio State University in 1976. I was commissioned as a Marine 2nd Lt. in 1980 and served 7 years. Then I started seminary at Duke University 6 weeks after getting out of the Marine Corps. I was a Navy Chaplain Candidate while in seminary. From 1994-1998 I served as an active duty Navy chaplain with the Coast Guard and the Navy. Then I joined the Army.....I've been at Ft. Sill, OK, ever since. I served on active duty almost 4 years, joined the Reserves, then was mobilized Jan. 2003. I stayed mobilized until retirement! I have 27 years service (active and reserve).

I have been stationed in North Carolina, Okinawa, O'ahu, New York City, Oklahoma. I have been able to visit mainland Japan, the Phillippines, 3 other Hawaiian Islands and several other states. I have been aboard Marine One (the Presidential helo) and flown past the face of the Statue of Liberty (restricted airspace, unless you are in a Coast Guard helo!). I served as a chaplain during the recovery operation for TWA 800.

Along the way I have made numerous friends and developed an incredible love for dogs. All in all, not a bad life....And, Jesus loves me!
