NFL player, Jacksonville Jaguars 2003–10

What is Vince Manuwai (1999) known for?

Vince Manuwai, born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on July 12, 1980, was a notable American football player. He played as a guard and earned recognition for his athletic prowess while attending Farrington High School in Honolulu. He received All-Conference and All-State honors in football, and in track and field, he won All-League in shot put, and first team All-League and second team All-State in discus throw, all of which culminated in his graduation from the school in 1999.

He went on to play college football for the University of Hawaii Warriors team. Here, he asserted himself as a three-year starter and excellent pass protector, not allowing a sack in his last 35 games. His performance earned him several accolades, including an All-America first-team choice by College Football News, an All-WAC first-team selection, and the Warrior Club Award for the team's best player.

Vince's professional career took off when he was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played for the Jaguars from 2003 to 2010, starting 105 out of his 111 games. During his tenure, the Jaguars' offense rushed for impressive yardages, thanks in large part to Manuwai's skills. He demonstrated remarkable resilience by returning to the lineup in 2009 after a serious injury in 2008, later regaining his starting position in 2010 and significantly contributing to Jacksonville's running game.

In 2012, he briefly joined the Atlanta Falcons during the offseason. After his retirement from professional football, he sadly passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii, on November 4, 2018.
