About Me	After I graduated from Farmington in 2013, I went to Michigan State University to study science and get a 6-12 standard teaching certification in biology and integrated sciences. While there, I also served on the Residence Halls Association first as a representative for the Jewish Student Union and then for the Council of Students with Disabilities. After graduating from MSU in 2017, I completed a one-year student teaching position from 2017-2018 in Webberville Middle School before teaching physics, chemistry, biology and earth science at Taylor High School from 2018-2022. I am now proud to teach high school science much closer to home at Southfield High School for the Arts and Technology. I volunteer a lot of my time in various places. While at Taylor High School, I co-advised the school's very first GSA (Gender and Sexuality Alliance) for three years; this is something I continue to at Southfield High School. In addition, I serve as an officially appointed member of the Ferndale Accessibility and Inclusion Advisory Commission (FAIAC) and facilitate a support group for queer, disabled folks at Affirmations Detroit LBGTQ+ Community Center. I'm really proud of the good that I do in these volunteer positions, and of how many people I've helped through them so far. You would have known me by a different name when we went to Farmington High School together, but in 2018 I came out to myself and friends as a trans woman and in 2019 I came out publicly. I've been happily transitioning ever since. My name is Rachel Zaback, and my pronouns are She/Her. I would appreciate if you avoided using my deadname for me going forward--the name I used pre-transition.
