| About Me | Born in Brooklyn but I never lived there. I'm a "Queens guy." High School in Far Rockaway NY, Prep School in Worcester Mass. College, Studied Political Science. history and sociology at Johns Hopkins University. In 1963, I got drafted. Despite a letter from an orthopedic surgeon (which he advised me with 15 cents would probably get me on the subway) I was inducted and, after basic training at Ft Dix NJ, I served two years in the US Army Alaska as a medic (Ft Richardson, near Anchorage). Became a Regular NYC Teacher in Williamsburgh, Bklyn...serious auto accident 6/69, ended my teaching career (by my choice) and I entered our family furniture business 1970. My grandfather who, with my grandmother and my aunt, came to NYC (Ellis Island) from Kopyl, Belarus, by way of London, in 1905, and started our family's furniture business in 1919. I became CEO from 1975 to 2000 when I locked the door and walked away. ' Married a Montreal lady who I met in Tel Aviv 6/72. We had a good time but...twenty three years later we split, amicably. Two terrific daughters and one terrific son. Met my wife, Katie, in 2001 and, for me, LoML! We are very cool... ' I've been all over the US...with my folks, with my wife and kids and solo. I've been to Quebec many times. I've been to Israel twice, been to western Europe and England, been to all parts of the Caribbean...Jamaica, with Katie, was THE BEST!!! (Respect!) although our visit to Costa Rica's west coast (Bahia Drake) was wonderful...especially Corcovado Parke Nacional... ' In 1995 I hooked up with WBAI radio Pacifica Network) as a volunteer and friend. Joined the Local Advisory Board from 2000 until 2003. Very rewarding experience and highly educational. ' Now, Katie and I live in Tamarac, FL. I try to maintain a healthy organic and sometimes, raw food diet, and...I read...and I bike...and I walk and I'm on the Board of our HOA and on the Board of the Miami Veterans for Peace. ' The Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship of Boca Raton, which I belong to, has become a very pleasant and enlightening part of my life. I joined the chancel choir several years ago and singing for our magnificent choir director has been such a pleasure...Plus I have a great seat to listen to the very motivational and enlightening sermons of our wonderful pastor...She rocks! So...I think that life seems to be working out OK. You'll never hear me complain...'cause everything is gonna be whatever I want it to be. Nobody else. I'm happy...and I really care ...(read more) |
