Obituary:
Steven R. VanGuilder, 63, of Jamestown passed away Thursday (December 21, 2017) in his home.
A lifelong area resident he was born June 12, 1954 in Dunkirk, the son of James W. and Pauline Tripp VanGuilder.
Steve was a graduate of Falconer High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War in Germany. In earlier years he was employed by Ed Shults Auto Group and Car Quest. Prior to retirement he was employed by Townline Auto.
Steve was a car and motor cycle enthusiast and was a pit crew member at Northeast Motor Speedway. He enjoyed bowling having bowled a 300, hunting, fishing, hiking, cross country skiing and camping.
Surviving is his mother: Pauline VanGuilder of Jamestown; three brothers: Edward (Anastasia) VanGuilder of Kentucky, Jeffrey (Sandy) VanGuilder of Largo, FL, John (Dixie) VanGuilder of Washington State; two sisters: Debra (Fred) Carder of Falconer, Janet Gee of Kennedy; his step son Jonathan Clark of Texas and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his father James W. VanGuilder who died June 9, 1992.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Walter Venman pastor of Clarks Corners Community Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 and one hour prior to the funeral service Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be donated to the Erie VA Medical Center, 135 E. 38th St., Erie, PA, 16504 or to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750.
