About | Linda Pohto, age 59, of Fairport Harbor passed away on Nov. 29, 2015. She was born the daughter of Shirley (Rose) and Robert E. Bochnak on July 9, 1956 in Painesville, Linda was employed at the North Coast Council in Valley View. She was a 1974 graduate of Fairport Harding High School. She served on numerous committees in the Lake County area and throughout Ohio that support children and education. Linda was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Fairport Harbor, Property Committee, Church Council, Zion's ministry, Youth group, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Pohto dedicated her life to serving the community in many capacities including serving the Fairport Harbor school system and Auburn Career Center. Linda worked hand in hand with the Summer Concert Series in Fairport, was a member of the Finnish Heritage Museum, Fairport Harbor Historical Society, Fairport Harbor School Boosters, and Fairport Harbor Tourism Council. Survivors are her loving children Jessica Lynn Pohto of Chicago, Illinois, and Eric Pohto of Denver, Colorado; and grandson Caleb; mother to her Jeanette Bochnak of Chicago; brother Ted Bochnak of Perry; sister Diane Winters of Texas; brother Frank Bochnak of Chicago; sister Jennifer (Mark) Diamatos of Chicago; sister Christine (Jeff) Borst of Chicago; sister Alberta (Tim) Horne of Columbus and sister Lamberta Hutchinson of Gillette, Wyoming; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred E. Pohto who passed away in 2013; and mother in law Viola M. Pohto. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2015 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Eagle Street, Fairport Harbor. Visitation for friends and family will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Church with visitation also one hour prior to the funeral Service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church or to the Fairport Harbor Tourism, 220 Third Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio 44077.
