About It is with heavy hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Gary W Gantz, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Gary, born in April 1945 to Walter and Rowena Gantz, lived a life filled with passion and dedication to his family, sports, and community. Graduating from Fairmont West in 1963, Gary's athletic prowess and academic excellence earned him countless achievements and accolades.
A graduate of Fairmont West in 1963, Gary excelled in baseball, football, and basketball, garnering acclaim as an all-Ohio athlete. His athletic prowess earned him a scholarship, which propelled him to Ohio University where he was not only a standout student but also assumed the prestigious role of secretary of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.
In 1968, Gary crossed paths with the love of his life, Deborah Coffman, while teaching at New Lexington High School. Their union in marriage in 1969 marked the beginning of a beautiful journey filled with love and devotion. Together, they welcomed their children, Troy and Dawn, into the world and built a strong and loving family.
Throughout his life, Gary wore many hats, from educator to coach and entrepreneur. His passion for coaching gymnastics and his dedication to his family were unparalleled. Gary's commitment to his various roles, including his founding of Tops Gymnastic Club in 1984, showcased his tireless work ethic and unwavering spirit.
In his 55 years of marriage, Gary's devotion to Deborah was unwavering, and their bond stood as a testament to enduring love. Survived by his wife, children, brothers, adoring grandchildren, nieces and nephews Gary's spirit lives on in the memories he created with his loved ones.
A celebration of Gary's remarkable life and legacy will be held at Routsong Funeral Home Kettering (2100 E Stroop Rd on Saturday November 23, 2024, from 9am until 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dayton Children’s Hospital in Gary's honor.
Gary Gantz will forever be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his passion for coaching, and his profound love for his family. May he rest in peace, knowing he touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
