I was sad to read this. Kathy had been my best friend since her family moved to Kettering from Missouri, and she was the new kid in Mrs. Glimp's 4th grade class with me at George L Ernst Elementary. We rode our bikes all over the town, played tennis when we got a bit older, and even shared an apartment one summer. I also remember having a crush on her older brother Mark, who is also deceased. In grade school, I loved going over to Kathy's house after school, especially on Wednesdays, when her mom Marilyn would be taking fresh baked bread out of the oven. Our mouths watered for that slice of warm bread with butter! Requiescat in Pace, my old friend.
