What is Tory Lanez known for?

Tory Lanez, real name Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, is a Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter. Born on July 27, 1992, in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, he later moved to Miami, Florida with his family. The tragic passing of his mother dramatically impacted his life and led him to live in different parts of the United States. Eventually, he found a home in Atlanta, where he got his nickname "Lanez".

Lanez started his musical journey in Toronto after being forced to fend for himself at a young age. Making a name for himself in the music industry, he idolized the late rapper Notorious B.I.G., adopting a variation of his infamous moniker to become "Tory Lanez".
