Enlisted in the US Army Band program. Played in the 8th Infantry Division Band in Bad Kreuznach, West Germany and also with the 4th Army Band at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Attained the rank of Sergeant (E-5).

Received a regular Army commission from Northern Michigan University in 1983, where she was a distinguished military graduate. Served five years activie duty as a Military Police Officer and an additional four years, in the reserves, as a Military Inteligence Officer. She received an honorable discharge, as a Captain, in 1992. Currently, she is a sales manager for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, assigned to Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas.
