I did some internet research re: Tom Tjaarda. I learned that he died in Italy. I think at the age of 81.
People think he, like his father, went to Italy to escape the Detroit automotive scene, but having personally known Tom and his mother, I think it may well be that Tom's father and Tom went to Italy to escape Mrs Tjaarda.
