About Me ONE WORD THAT DESCRIBES ME "WARRIOR." THE REST ABOUT ME, WELL JUST READ ON. HAVE A GREAT DAY:) I am a passionate person who enjoys life and adventure including acquiring knowledge. I enjoy rappelling I would love to rappel off the tallest building in the world known as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. I think it would be a rush. I did much rappelling while as a Military Officer (Commissioned Officer, Canadian Forces, Army Reserves, CIC, held the rank of Lieutenant (Ret). I am currently a Law Enforcement Officer/Probation and Parole Officer (PPO). I love and have a passion for the profession I am in because I have wanted to do what I do since my late teens early twenties. I was selected Valedictorian, Ontario Corrections College, when I graduated as a PPO. On January 11, 2024 I passed my oral defence and was conferred the designation "Doctor of Psychology (clinical)". Primary Profession: “I became a Probation & Parole Officer (PPO) because; I am captivated by the concept of the law & engrossed by the methodologies of psychology, but community corrections isn’t only about law, psychology, criminology, sociology or social work in the theoretical sense but an amalgamation of those dynamic variables enmeshed. Being a Probation & Parole Officer is about applying the law, counselling theories & mentoring in its embodiment, applied concurrently to the situation a PPO is presented with, and the aspiration of making a significant difference to the human condition. Equally, it’s also why I chose to study and obtain my Doctorate specifically in the area of Psychology, to assist and support in balancing those needs and risk factors. It’s about being dynamic and germane to the population we serve.” ultimately it’s about fulfilling my true purpose while fuelling my passion for both disciplines.” (caveat) - do not confuse PPO with a Correctional Officer (CO). Two different roles but both are employed under Ministry of Solicitor General, which is also responsible for OPP. I am also an Adjunct Professor (UGH) teaching both at the university and college levels (justice studies and forensics program). I teach the fourth year honors B.A. program. I love this because I teach what I practice in my full time profession. I have many students who has followed my footsteps either in law/law enforcement and or psychology. Secondary Profession: “I became a Professor because; I am transfixed & engaged by learning & the transference of knowledge. For me it’s using education to create quality and being instrumental, to further enhance and condition the mind. Being a Professor I enjoy mentoring, as I believe its quintessence, applied in tandem with facilitating information and how it’s presented, makes a fundamental difference to the student. It’s about being dynamic and connected to the diverse student population. Finally it’s about fulfilling my true purpose while quenching my passion for teaching, learning and the reciprocation of knowledge.” My other goal/dreams to become a Justice of the Peace (the ultimate dream), to publish my book once I climb Kilimanjaro (a dream I have had since I was 7 years old); and accomplish my black belt and still kick boxing:) & visit the six continents (scientifically speaking). Most of us in school are taught there is seven. In closing, I continue to set goals for myself and continue to achieve them. I strive to be the best I can be and ask nothing less of myself and make no apologies for who I am or what I have accomplished in this life:) I dedicate all my personal, academic and professional achievements to my (grandmother, and parents including my bio mom - RIP) She is the ROCK in my life that grounds me securely on my path always. MY PERSONAL MOTTO " A life lived fulfilling your dreams with PURPOSE & PASSION is a life well lived - By Nadia Ghanny My passion is ... my life I know too much about ... NOTHING! just a sponge learning what I could from others around me My parents/grandmother always told me ... show me the type of company you keep and I will tell you who you are My childhood ambition ... to become a Paleontologist My favorite memory ... I have not one but several - hunting with my brothers/ long trips with my parents/ shopping with my grandmother and listening to the lessons she taught me about life Why I write ... because i love expressing myself in written form My best moment ... When I commenced my Doctorate 2013, and in a still moment I realized I had now accomplished the things, which I was sent to do. More to come:) this for me is a very big deal:) I defended on January 11 2024 and was conferred the designation "Doctor of Psychology" (Psy.D). I have wanted to do my Doctorate since my mid 20's. It remains so surreal (lol). My inspiration ... "My designer (aka creator”), my grandmother, spouse of over 35 years, my former students who follow in my footsteps and everyday that I...(read more)
