About David Allen “Festus” Walker, 31, of 100 McIntosh Road, Candler, died Saturday, August 31, 2002, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of loving parents, Charles David and Connie Green Walker of Fletcher. He served in the US Marine Corps and was an active member of New Morgan Hill Baptist Church. At the time of his death he was maintenance manager of food and beverage for the Biltmore Estate.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife whom he loved with all his heart, Karen Eavenson Walker; one son, Kameron Brian Walker, the sunshine of his life, and a baby to be born in November; his brother, Fred Lee "Bo" Walker of Fletcher; paternal grandparents, Fred and Mary Walker of Candler and his maternal grandfather Charlie Crawford of Robbinsville; his parents-in-law Barry and Ailene Eavenson of Asheville, his sister-in-law Dawn Chapman Eavenson and a nephew “Little” Ricky Eavenson of Leicester; loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Crawford and his brother-in-law Ricky Brian Eavenson.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy Houston and Virgil Holloway officiating. Mr. Tom Ruff and Kerry Putnam will bring the eulogy. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

His family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to a trust fund for his son Kameron and unborn baby Walker, c/o Mountain Bank, 74 Patton Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801, because they are our “ray of sunshine”.
