CJ lived and worked in Leicester, NC and was married to Hilda Tipton Cody from Marshall, NC. He had his own business through the Asheville Citizens Time delivering papers. CJ is buried in Enka, NC Buncombe County at the Forest Lawn Cemetary beside his mother and father and first wife, Linda.
