Louisa McCune was a 1988 Enid High School graduate. She attended Colorado Mountain College and the University of Colorado, Boulder, and earned a bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University in 1992. She was the editor in chief of Oklahoma Today magazine, the founder of ArtDesk and executive director of the Kirkpatrick Foundation. She had three sons. She was a contributor to many magazines and a board member for many Oklahoma based arts organizations.
