About Terry "Wayne" Hayes

Terry 'Wayne' Hayes, 69, of Jacksonville, FL, completed life's journey on Monday, March 28, 2016, leaving a well-marked path behind. He closed his eyes to begin a new adventure in a beautiful setting joined by an eclectic cast of past friends and family members. From there he will watch over us and patiently wait to reunite with his traveling partner of 45 years Margery 'Angel' Hayes. He will be greatly missed by “Angel,” their two children, Ashley (Hayes) Speake and Kyle Edward Hayes, and four grandchildren. Wayne was known for his strong work ethic, devotion to friends, and for a dedication to providing for his family. Whether you knew him as Coach, Dean, Wayne, or Dad, his imprint is long lasting and he will never truly leave us. In the near future a celebration of life will be held in his honor. His mother, Eula Mae Hayes and his sister, Robin, also survived him.

He was born November 26,1946 to his parents, Clarence Gordon Hayes and Eula Mae Hayes.
He graduated from Englewood High School, Class of 1965, where he played football, and later became a coach and educator. His family attended Glendale Community Church, Jacksonville, FL, when he was growing up. His father, Clarence Gordon Hayes, a U.S. Navy veteran, (1920-2007), who served 30 years in the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, predeceased him and is buried in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL.
