About | We will truly miss this icon of the Reunion Committee. Starting with our 10 yr gathering, James was instrumental in our forming the EHS committee .. volunteering his time and resources, venues for our events.. Was our software and hardware guru, keeping us in place and on time.. Never said no ! He never waivered in his dedication to our class. James Elliatt Casteel was born on June 10, 1949 and entered the gates of Heaven on November 14, 2021. He is survived by his wife Penny Casteel of 50 years, Son James Casteel II (Connie), Daughter Kimberly Casteel, Grandchildren Chase Guerra (Melanie), Madison Haney (Logan), Noel Jackson (Cooper), Hannah Casteel, and Caden Casteel, His sister Paulette Burke (John) and his brother Douglas Casteel. He will also be greatly missed by many of his lifelong friends. He is also preceded in death by his father Paul Casteel, his mother Jackie Casteel, and his sister Betty Jo. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida where he was a lifelong resident. He attended Englewood High School and graduated in 1968. He was in the United States Navy Reserves. He was also a Special Deputy with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office serving as a member of the Four Wheel Drive Posse. In the years following retirement from Peninsular Life Insurance Company as Assistant Vice President of Building Services, he owned and operated several businesses with his wife Penny. One of which was “Buyer’s First Choice Home Inspections” where he was a home inspector which he greatly enjoyed. Additionally, he was a member of the National Association of Power Engineers. In his spare time, he was an avid horse rider, especially when he was alongside his beloved wife Penny. He also loved being outdoors and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. James was well known by many of being a man of faith. Many of those he crossed paths with he would share the love of Christ. A service was held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 |
