My grandmother, Grace Smith found a class ring in Grand Marais, MN sometime between the 1950's and 1970's -she couldn't remember exactly when. It has the initials J.W. in the inside and the graduation year is 192? (the year is worn off and its hard to read). It has a large E in the center and it is gold-maybe a size 7 and very worn. She wore the ring all those years in hopes that someone would recognize it. She gave me the ring a couple of years before she died and said that she was never able to find the ring's owner. While the ring means something to me because of my grandmother the truth is it does not belong to me. I know that the owner of the ring is likely now passed away, however, I would like to find a family member and return it. Sadly, in this day in age I would request that some kind of proof of relation to J.W. be provided before I return it as I want to be sure that it goes to the right person.
