Thompson Born: 10/12/1961 Birth Location: Emmetsburg, Iowa Death Date: 10/04/2011 Death Location:DeKalb, Illinois Service: There will be a private family graveside service at Rush Lake Cemetery near Curlew, Iowa. Visitation: The family will greet friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22nd at the funeral home. Daniel P. Thompson was born October 12, 1961, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the son of Wilfred (Bill) and Mary (Kollasch) Thompson. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1980, and began working as a meat cutter at Inboden Meat Market in DeKalb, IL. He later worked as meat manager at Wal-Mart in DeKalb. In 2006, he joined the meat department at Schnucks Family Grocery Store in DeKalb. Daniel enjoyed cooking, barbecuing, and attending his children’s sports events. Most of all, Dan treasured the time he spent with his family. On Tuesday, October 4, 2011, Dan passed away at the Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb following a short illness. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Mathew, Rachel and Devin Thompson all of DeKalb, IL; two brothers: William Thompson and his wife, Mary of Orange Park, FL and John Thompson of Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters: Ruth Malm and her husband, Steve and Mary Jane Soenen and her husband, Robert all of Emmetsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James and sister, Judy.
