| About Me | During high school, I had no desire to learn or pursue a college education. I left home a year after HS graduation to join the U.S. Army. I enlisted in the Army for two years and fulfilled my desire to drive trucks. My first duty station was Butzback, Germany. I graduated from Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (1983-1984) at Fort Dix, NJ. My second duty station brought me back to America and to a state that I love, Virginia. While stationed at Fort Eustis, VA, a close friend invited me to his church, and my faith in Christ was reignited. I recommitted my life to Jesus and was filled with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. My walk of faith deepened, and I began to feel God's call on my life. When I was offered my next duty station, it was for somewhere I didn't want to go, and I felt it was time for me to get out of the Army and pursue a ministerial degree. I signed a bar to re-enlistment and headed to Lee College (now Lee University) in Cleveland, Tennessee. During my first semester at Lee, I met my wife, Susan Marie Campbell Gregory. She is my lady of Proverbs. We married seven months to the day we met, and we are still deeply in love with Jesus and each other. While we both worked toward our bachelor's degrees, we had two daughters. I worked full-time as a campus safety officer while taking full-time classes. I went on to seminary and thought for a while that we would become missionaries. However, when I shared my desire to be an officer with Susan, she encouraged me to pursue military chaplaincy. Remembering that I had signed a bar to re-enlistment, I didn't think it would be possible for me to go back into the Army. But the Lord's plans are never thwarted. While pursuing my educational degrees, I became an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) on January 29, 1997. I received a Bachelor of Science degree from Lee College, a Master of Divinity from the Church of God Theological Seminary, Cleveland, Tennessee, and a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Columbus State University. Chaplain Officer Basic, Fort Monmouth, NJ (1995) and Chaplain Career Course (2004) Fort Jackson, SC, Combined Arms and Services Staff School (2004) Fort Leavenworth, KS. I entered active duty in the military in 1983 and then again in 1997. I completed over 23 years of active service in the Army. I retired out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky. I completed one unit of CPE at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (1996), my second unit of CPE at Bons Secours Health-St. Vincent Medical Center (2022) and completed four units with the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy (2009-2010) at Fort Benning, Ga. I am in my 5th year of full-time chaplain ministry at Mercy Health Lorain.
