About	Josephine was 92, passed away December 20, 2017 after a lengthy illness. She was born December 15, 1925 to Anton and Zlata Velaga, who migrated from Croatia. She grew up on a small family farm in the town of Florin during the Great Depression, remained in the Community of Florin for the rest of her life and was an active member of the Florin Historical Society. Her enjoyment included trips to the Casino's with her friends. She loved living in the Country on a small ranch with daily manual chores and remained active to the age of 91. Josephine graduated from Elk Grove High School, Class of 44. She began her employment career with John Breuner's Fine Furniture store on K Street as an office worker. Later she was employed by the State of California completing her 38 years of employment as a Federal Civil Servant, retiring from the Sacramento Army Depot. Josephine is survived by her two sisters, Millie Velaga and Elizabeth (Babe) Velaga. She is also survived her nieces Diann Velaga of Sacramento and Joan Holderman, nephews Richard Stilleke, and Jason Conley, brother-in-law Jim Stilleke. She was predeceased by her parents Anton and Zlata Velaga, her sisters Mary Gocke and Ann Stilleke (9/21/2017), her brothers Joseph and John Velaga. Josephine was loved by her family and will be sorely missed by all. She loved family gatherings and we will miss her special way of telling stories that might not have an ending. May she rest in Peace. Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary Cemetery & Funeral Center, 6509 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento, CA on Friday December 29, 2017 with Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Services will start at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow. - Information from the Sacramento Bee
