About	On September 28, 2017, the world lost the greatest of men when Ron Oneto, 60, was tragically taken from us in a farming accident. He was surrounded by his loving family when his generous heart stopped beating. Ron was born on November 22, 1956 to Mel and Lena Oneto in Stockton, California. Several years later the family moved to Elk Grove, CA to establish a farming business. There, Ron attended Franklin Elementary, Kerr Middle School, and Elk Grove High School. The friends he made during these years remained forever, cherished friends. After high school graduation, Ron attended Cal Poly SLO where he met his wife, Lisa. They were married in 1979. They settled in the Elk Grove area so that Ron could farm on the family ranch with his dad and brother. He took great pride in the big red tomatoes, juicy cherries, and succulent wine grapes that were produced. In between the crop seasons, Ron and Lisa loved to travel. They enjoyed trips to Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, St. Lucia, The Dominican Republic, Montana and many cruises, always living life to the fullest. Ron was never far from a BBQ grill or a pancake spatula. Ron was the charter president of the Pride of Laguna Creek Lions club, where he volunteered his time for community events. He also served on the California Dry Bean Advisory Board, and California Tomato Commission, among other agricultural organizations. Ron loved to hunt, fish, restore mustangs, and watch the 49ers. He was predeceased by his father Mel, his mother-in-law Diane, many aunts and uncles and his grandparents. He will be missed by his loving wife of 38 years, Lisa, his two grown children Ryan (Amber), Taralyn, (Anthony) and his four grandsons Slayter, Grayson, Bradley, and Blake. Also missing him will be his mother Lena, his brother Ken (Florrie), his sister Lorene, his nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 12 at 11:00 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 9961 Elk Grove Florin Rd., Elk Grove. A vigil will be held at 7:00 on Wednesday Oct. 11 at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pride of Laguna Creek Lions/Ron Oneto Scholarship fund, PO Box 2021 Elk Grove, CA. 95759 The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and other hospital personnel at Kaiser South Trauma Center who attended to Ron in the most loving and caring manner.
