About	Bernard Toshiaki Sakamoto Bernard passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2017. He was predeceased by parents Nobuo and Mary Sakamoto, brother Reverend Arthur Sakamoto of Japan, and infant sister Nobuko. He epitomized devotion as a kind and loving husband to wife Judy, was the proud father of Dr. Kristen Sakamoto Wallace (Patrick), and adored and precious grandpa of Kailyn, Jaidyn, and Justin Wallace. He was a caring brother to Ronald (Pauline), Harriet Sekikawa (Sam), and sister-in-law Hisae of Japan. During WWII, his family was evacuated from Elk Grove and interned at Amache, CO. He attended Elk Grove schools and served in the Air Force. After retirement as a refrigeration controls specialist at McClellan Air Force Base, he cherished his role as grandpa to his growing family. His legacy of kindness, love, and devotion will forever be remembered and instilled in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 15, at the Sacramento Buddhist Church, 2401 Riverside Blvd in Sacramento. Published in The Sacramento Bee on Jan. 8, 2017
