About	David Eddie Cox, who grew up in Elk Grove died suddenly July 27, 2016 in Bend, Oregon where he was working with his father renovating a hotel. He was born Aug. 2, 1989 in Sacramento and attended James McKee Elementary and Joseph Kerr Middle schools and was active in the band while at Kerr. When he entered high school, the family moved briefly to Mission Viejo and he graduated from high school there. Following graduation he moved back to Northern California and Meadow Vista while attending Sierra College. In 2008 David was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Albuquerque, New Mexico mission. Most of his missionary work was done with Native Americans on the Navajo Indian reservation. After his mission term, he moved to Houston, Texas where he attended massage school and was employed at a pain management center in Houston. He later joined his father’s construction company in the renovation business and, said his family, became a skilled worker in the various construction trades. David is survived by his parents, Eddie B. Cox of Elk Grove and Karen Gerow of Rancho Cordova; siblings Michael and Michelle Cox both of Elk Grove; grandparents Eddie and Mary Cox also of Elk Grove and Joe and Fran Hodgson of Rancho Cordova; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, most of whom are from the Elk Grove area. A memorial service will take place this afternoon (Friday, Aug. 5) at 2 p.m. at the LDS Church, 8697 Elk Grove Blvd.
