About	Richard (Andy) Fairbairn, a lifelong resident of Elk Grove died May 31, 2016 at home in Elk Grove following a battle with cancer. He was 52. Andy was born Sept. 14, 1963 in Sacramento and grew up in Elk Grove on the Fairbairn ranch, graduating from Elk Grove High School in 1981. He attended Cosumnes River College and worked as night crew manager for Bel Air markets for 24 years. The Fairbairn brothers were avid sports fans and Andy was no exception. He coached football at both Elk Grove and Kennedy high schools and he, his brothers and friends played softball for 15-plus years. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with cousins Virgil and Jeff Yuhre and friends including Tim Franklin. The family extended their thanks to the many people who donated to Andy's GoFundMe page, enabling his brothers and friends to take him on trips throughout northern California and the West Coast. Andy was preceded in death by his father, James H. Fairbairn and his brother, James (Greg) Fairbairn. He is survived by his mother, Blanche Fairbairn; brothers Bill and Roger Fairbairn and several nieces and nephews, all of Elk Grove. A celebration of his life will take place Saturday, June 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 9240 Survey Road off Grant Line Road.
