About | Michael Takehara passed away on November 2, 2015, at the age of 68 after his long and courageous baffle with cancer. Michael was a native and lifelong resident of Sacramento. He graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1965, attended Sacramento City College, and was stationed in Germany during his service in the U.S. Army. Michael was a hardworking plumber for over 40 years. He learned the plumbing trade from his Uncle John, owner of John's Plumbing, and took over the business after John retired. He was a member of the Nisei Bowling League, the Sakura Golf Club, and a faithful fan of the SF 49ers and Giants. He truly loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed baking his specialty cream puffs for family gatherings. Michael will be greatly missed and always be remembered by family and friends as a super nice person with a big heart. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Betty Takehara. He is survived by his siblings: Rusby (Akiko), Florinne, Shizue (Robert) Cooper, and Carolyn (Alvin) Takehara-Lee, a large extended family, his dear friend Hiroko Lim, and his faithful dog Wesson. A private memorial service was held. He was interred at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, California. The family would like to acknowledge the special care, kindness, and compassion Michael received from the ACC Skill Nursing Center, ACC-Greenhaven Terrace, and Bruceville Terrace-Nurses Station C. Donations in his memory may be made to the ACC Senior Services (accsv.org) or a charity of choice . - Information from the Sacramento Bee Cousin to Steve, Jerry, and Paula Takahara Celebration of life was December 2, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Hong Kong Islander, 5675 Fremont Blvd., Sacramento, CA |
