About	Dorothy May DeVore was born May 3rd, 1931 to Harry and Hilda DeVore in Galt, California. She passed away on October 29th in Sacramento, California. She is survived by her Brother, Hank (Shirley) DeVore of Ione, by her three Children, Sharon Smith of Sacramento, Jackie (Darrell) Cartmill, of El Dorado Hills, and Jerry (DeAn) Ward, of Placerville; five Grandchildren, Andrea Giles, Alyse Rogers, Casey (Laura) Cartmill, Matt Cartmill and Jason Ward; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan Giles, J.T. Rogers, Donny and Kyoko Cartmill. She is also survived by three step children, Keneth Joslin of Loomis, Bill Joslin of Sacramento, and Jeannie Gomes of Wilton, in addition to all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she considered her family too. Dorothy graduated from Elk Grove High. In June of 1949 she married J.T. Ward, and they settled in Sheldon where they had a grocery business called Sheldon Grocery Market, for several years. After the store was sold Dorothy was an assistant to a tax accountant; and after that she worked at the Elk Grove Variety Store, also known as the "Five and Dime" for many years. After her first husband, J.T. Ward, passed away, she later married Gene Joslin in 2003. Dorothy had many friends and family that she loved spending time with. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Joslin, her first husband J.T., her parents, brother Charles (Bud) Webb, sister Muriel, step-father Fred Traganza, step-sisters, Margaret and Alice. She leaves behind family and many friends that were like family to her, and thought the world of her. A Celebration of her Life will be held November 21st, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., at The Elk Grove Park Pavilion, 9950 Elk Grove Florin Rd, Elk Grove, CA 95624. - Information from the Sacramento Bee
