Born in Torrance, California where he was raised and worked on his family’s dairy farm. In 1958 Al graduated from Elk Grove High School, Elk Grove, California. After graduation he served in the U.S. Coast Guard for 2 years, then joined the U.S. Air Force where he started his career as a Fire Fighter. Al and his wife Candy moved to the Susanville area in 1992. Al temporarily dispatched for the Lassen County Sherriff’s Department for 4 months, and kept the scoreboard for Lassen Union High School for 20 years.
