About	It is with great sadness that the family of Dave Simas announce his passing on May 26th, 2015, after a courageous 18-month battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig 's disease). He was born on July 29, 1933, in Sacramento, attended Elk Grove High Class of 1951 and Sacramento City College. He played on the 1950 Championship Elk Grove High football team and was always proud of his Elk Grove roots. After proudly serving four years in the US Air Force, Dave became one of the original founders of Simas Floor Company along with his brothers Bob, Jack and Ken. His greatest passion was his family, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. He loved working on his ranch, watching his grandchildren play sports and following the San Francisco Giants. Dave was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Celesta Simas, parents Jack and Irene Simas, brothers Robert Dow, Al and Helen Simas, Bob Simas, Bill Simas, sister Marion Simas and infant grandsons Matthew Chamberlain Simas and Nathaniel Tucker Simas. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Doris Simas, brothers Jack and Ken, sister Peggy, children Chris (Shelley) Simas, Craig (Marisa) Simas, Pamela (Kevin) Rappleye, David (Terri) Simas, Doris's sons Kevin (Janet) Slay, Kent (Terry) Slay, Kris Slay, 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and many beloved in-laws, nieces & nephews. The Simas family would like to thank The Church of Fiji Care-givers, specifically Joe 1, Joe 2 and William for their loving and compassionate care provided to Dave during his illness. Visitation will be Thursday, June 4, 2015, 5-8 p.m. at East Lawn Elk Grove, 9189 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, Ca 95624. A Celebration of Dave's life will be held Friday, June 5, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Harvest Church, 10385 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, Ca 95624.
