About	Linda Kay Veninga, 73, died December 19, 2014 in her home after a five and a half year battle with cancer. Linda was born December 25, 1940 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Vernon and Katheryn Bridges. Her family moved to Lindsay, California when she was six years of age. Linda made California her home thereafter. From an early age she was involved in her community through Job's Daughters and other activities. She enrolled at Fresno State College in 1958 where she earned her B.A. in Education and was credentialed as a classroom teacher. While at Fresno State College, she met her future husband, Don. They married in 1962 and moved to Lakeport, California where Linda worked as an Elementary School teacher. In 1966, they moved to Elk Grove, California and she was hired by Elk Grove Unified School District to teach elementary education at Elk Grove Elementary School. This tenure continued off and on until she retired in 2000. Unquestionably Linda's greatest joy was her daughter and son, Kristin and Stephen and their spouses. Kristin and Steve brought into her life, Sean and Patti. For family and friends, Linda was the ultimate provider taking both delight and fulfillment in planning meals, holidays and celebrations. She was the central mover behind family gatherings and worked hard to make her home a welcoming place for family and friends. She also loved to travel covering the world in a 10-year span. Her condition with stage four cancer these past several years put an end to travel. She was known for her strength, warmth and commitment to her family. She was also known for her service to her church and was an active member of PEO. She also enjoyed her bridge group, book club and the famous "lunch bunch." Linda is survived by her husband Donald; daughter Kristin and husband Sean, grandchildren Katharine, Conner, Drew and Chase Tollenaar; son Stephen and wife Patti, grandchildren Christian and Kaylee Veninga; and sisters Jerri Parsons and Bonnie Wolfe. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. There will be a viewing at East Lawn Elk Grove Mortuary (9189 E. Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA) on Monday, December 29th, 2014 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. There will be a private burial. A celebration of Linda's life is planned for Wednesday, January 14, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at Fremont Presbyterian Church (5770 Carlson Drive, Sacramento, CA) followed by a reception at Silva's Sheldon Inn (9000 Grantline Road, Elk Grove, CA).
