About | Lewis McDonald Lindsay, a former resident of Elk Grove died Sept. 2, 2014 at the age of 82. He was born Feb. 2, 1932 in Woodland to Marie Katherine and Alexander Lewis Lindsay, and grew up in Elk Grove on the family dairy where they raised registered Jerseys. He received many awards during his time in the FFA, and graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1951. Lewis attended college at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and served in the U.S. Army from 1952 until 1955 during which time he was an engineer in the Korean War. He retired from the San Joaquin Valley Dairy Herd Improvement Association after 28 years and then moved to Chaparral, N.M. Before working for them he and his wife owned and operated the Canteen Liquor Store in Woodland. He was a member of his local Moose Lodge No. 2080, and enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family all over the western United States. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Hazel (Tillotson) Lindsay; and his son, Eric McDonald Lindsay. He is survived by daughters Lee Anne Walton of Alturas, Kimberly Carole Lindsay of Woodland and Teri Marie King of Chaparral; grandchildren Kenneth L. Walton and Jackie K. Walton of Alturas, Jay A. Walton of Arroyo Grande, Brandi M. Williams and Wyatt M. Duncan of Lovington, N.M., and Bonnie Jean King of Chaparral; 10 great-grandchildren; and his brother, James Lindsay of Wilton.
