Evelyn Sunday (Enie) Jamerson-Gurion, a lifetime resident of the Sacramento area died Sept. 9, 2014 at the age of 73.
She was born Jan. 12, 1941 to Ernest Jamerson and Lucille Atencio Jamerson, and attended both Sierra Enterprise Elementary and Elk Grove High schools. Enie was a member of the Ione Band of Miwoks and, said her family, always had a big pot of beans cooking to feed whoever came to her home. “She never met a stranger and when homeless people came to her door they didn’t leave hungry, but were showered and with clean clothes. “She had a love for animals, especially her dogs, Pocket (Bugger) and Apache, and her cat, Big Kitty.” Enie is survived by her children, Robert Gurion of West Point, Marcus, George and Maxine Gurion all of the Sacramento area; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings Gil Jamerson and Ruby Ramos.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by children Mack Gurion Jr. and Diane Jamerson; and siblings Sonny and Alfred Jamerson, Helen and Lucille Ragudo, Gloria Morla and Carolyn Buccat.
A traditional Miwok ceremony will take place at her graveside Saturday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. in the Hicksville Cemetery on Arno Road, Galt. - Information from the Elk Grove Citizen

She was born on January 12, 1941 to Ernest Jamerson and Lucille Atencio Jamerson, and attended both Sierra Enterprise Elementary and Elk Grove High School. Enie was a member of the lone Band of Miwoks and, said her family, always had a big pot of beans and rice cooking to feed whoever came to her home.
