Published: Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in the Elk Grove Citizen Marilee Guttridge, a longtime resident of Elk Grove and Galt died July 21, 2014 following a long illness. She was a graduate of Elk Grove High School. She was well known as an avid china painter, and for many years donated a hand-painted teapot to the Strauss Festival of Elk Grove as a prize at the Festival's annual tea. As a china painter Marilee was active in numerous clubs, and served as president of the Camellia City Porcelain Artists six times from 1985 to 2006. She was named as honored artist for CAPA in 2007. Her family said her latest accomplishment was serving as president of the International Porcelain Artists and Teachers Association, and in that capacity coordinated and produced a convention in San Mateo in 2012, bringing artists together from all over the world to share and teach each other. The event was termed a huge success. Mrs. Guttridge is survived by her husband Jim; children Randy Guttridge and wife Lisa, Jay and Jim Guttridge; grandchildren John, Cheyanne, Doug, James, Katelyn and Brodie; and her sister, Sandy Need and husband George. Services will be Saturday, July 26 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 8925 Vintage Park Drive off Elk Grove-Florin Road.
