About	On the morning of June 18, 2014, Tom passed away at home after a fierce ten-year battle with cancer. He was born July 8, 1946 in Napa and grew up in Fairfield, CA. He is survived by his wife Cathi, daughter Sarah, son-in-law Nate Calvin and grandchildren Luke, Max and Olive and by his brother Jerry Ellington. Tom graduated from Sac State with a teaching credential and taught computer science at Elk Grove High for 35 years. He loved teaching, and made many lasting friendships. His love of cars meant that he always had several in his driveway that he worked on. Neighbors and friends always recognized him driving his blue 1950 Chevy truck. His quick wit and dry sense of humor meant that you'd better be ready with a quick reply. With his generous spirit and huge heart, Tom always helped anyone with anything - anytime. He befriended people on the street or those who came to his door looking for work - no questions asked. The family invites friends to attend Tom's Celebration of Life 2-4 p.m., July 13 at Curtis Hall, Sierra 2 Center, 2791 24th St., Sacramento. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
