About	Resident of Orinda Nancy Katherine Douglass passed away March 24, 2014, surrounded by her family in Orinda, Ca. Nancy was born in Elk Grove, Ca. in 1938 to parents Alvin and Amy Bartholomew, and graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1955. She met her husband to be, Gordon Douglass, at U. C. Berkeley and they married in 1960. Following their marriage and Gordon's further education at UCSF, they moved to Danville, Ca., to begin Gordon's dental practice. They moved to Orinda in 1966 where Nancy raised their daughters Sheryl and Lori. She also worked in the family business in Elk Grove until her retirement in 2005. Volunteering her talents to many organizations was always a passion. At the time of her passing she was President of the UCSF Faculty Associates, a member of the UCSF Partners in Care, and a Board member of Cal Performances on the UC Berkeley campus. Nancy worked tirelessly to promote the value of Cal Performances to those she met and was always a gracious hostess for Cal Performances events. Nancy also shared Gordon's interest in community music by hosting events at home. Nancy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gordon, daughter and son-in-law Sheryl and William Tolson, and granddaughter Kendall Connolly, grandson Thomas Connolly, grandson James Tolson all of Elk Grove, daughter and son-in-law Lori and Steven Cianfichi, grandson Domenic Cianfichi of Walnut Creek, brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Jacque Bartholomew of Davis, and brother and sister-in-law Hal and Beverly Bartholomew of Elk Grove. A private interment will be in the Bartholomew Family Estate in the East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park. A public memorial service is planned at The Faculty Club on the UC Berkeley campus.
